Tucked away on St Marks Church Road in Burlington, this bar and grill has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that suits both regulars and newcomers. The menu leans into comfort food with a solid focus on good, hearty options like handcut ribeye steaks, blackened tilapia, and a range of pizzas that combine familiar flavors with satisfying twists. Wings draw a steady crowd, especially those who enjoy experimenting with spicy garlic and house-made sauces.
Inside, you’ll find plenty of TVs, making it a spot where sports fans and groups often gather, but it's also comfortable enough for solo diners or casual lunch visits. The outdoor seating offers a nice alternative when the weather cooperates, and the atmosphere tends to balance between cozy and lively without veering into noisy. Service can feel a bit uneven at times, especially during busy hours, but the friendly bartenders and quick drink turnarounds help keep things moving.
With a solid beer selection alongside cocktails and a wine list, it’s a place that caters well to varied tastes, from those after a casual drink to folks looking for happy hour bites or late-night snacks. Accessibility is thoughtfully handled, with ramps, parking, and restrooms making it an inclusive space. College students and groups seem drawn here, but the menu and environment also work well for families, thanks to a kids’ menu and comfortable seating arrangements. Overall, it feels like a locally grounded spot where you’re likely to find something satisfying whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for the evening.

"Always great food, vibe, music, staff, all of it."
"Waitress was nice..beer was good..burgers were dry and bun was burnt."
"Always tasty and a great selection of beers at great prices."
5 Always have a great experience, we love the food and the wings are excellent.
4 Food is always great. Seems like they're under staffed. I get it. As long as my drinks stay coming I'm good. This time that wasn't the case. Thats why im not leaving 5 stars. Other than that Ive always enjoy this place. Highly recommend.
4 Enjoyed our drinks and appetizers at Piedmont Ale House. The bar had a number of TV’s and looked like it has a good group of regulars who frequent it. We enjoyed the southwestern egg rolls, buffalo chicken dip and popcorn chicken.
5 Best wings around the burgers are really good… but if you get wings my favorite is spicy garlic request a side of hot sauce mix it with your ranch for dipping… so freaking good.
4 We both ordered a salad, it was good service was slow. After receiving food no one came back out to check on us.
4 A wonderful place to grab a quick bite for lunch, have dinner or just to grab some drinks with a few friends. The food is incredible! Their onion rings were easily the best onion rings I have ever had! Definitely give this place a try if you are ever in the area!
5 Love grabbing a drink here... Super friendly staff... Food is very good... Always end up having something to eat... Good selection of drinks and prices are not too high... Been a few times and definitely going back soon...
5 I've been coming here for years, but hadn't been lately. My son and I decided to go since we were on that side of town. I always got their burgers and remembered how great they were, so we stopped in for that reason. Just like every time before, the burger was the best I'd eaten in a long while around here. The homemade chips were equally as good. The guy that used to wait on me years ago waited on us, and he was cool and a very nice. My son got a chicken sandwich which was delicious, as well. This is my go-to burger place. It won't be as long next time before I go back. Prices were very reasonable, especially with the size portions you get. Overall a 5/5... highly recommended.
The wings are highly recommended, especially the spicy garlic flavor with hot sauce and ranch. Southwestern egg rolls and buffalo chicken dip are also popular choices.
It works well for both quick bites and relaxed dining, with fast service noted but sometimes slower during busy times.
While busy times can feel understaffed, visiting outside peak dinner hours may offer a more comfortable experience.
The place suits both groups and solo diners, with seating options including bar food and tables, plus a cozy, casual atmosphere.
Piedmont Ale House offers outdoor seating, Wi-Fi, wheelchair accessible entrances, and accepts various card payments for convenience.
